CatholicTV Webathon Novena: Day 4

Thank you for dedicating nine days of your Lenten journey to the CatholicTV Webathon Novena. Today, Day 4 of the Novena, we ask Saint Francis de Sales to pray for us.

Saint Francis de Sales was known for his deep-rooted faith and gentle approach to the religious divisions that stemmed from the Protestant Reformation. He was an accomplished scholar and one of the leading figures of the Counter-Reformation. His heart led him to the priesthood where he became a priest in the Diocese of Geneva, a region where Calvinists had outlawed Catholic worship. Determined to bring people back to their Catholic faith, Francis turned to his gift of writing and prepared numerous works on Catholic doctrine aimed at igniting holiness among the people. His writings, as well as his loving and respectful approach to potential converts, made him a successful evangelist and brought tens of thousands back to the Faith. May we be like St. Francis de Sales and seek to unify, not divide, as we spread the Gospel message through media today.

Lord, help me to not look forward to the trials and crosses of this life with dread and fear. Help me to instead look to them with full confidence that as they arise, you will deliver me from them. You have guided and guarded me thus far in life. Please help me to hold fast to your hand, trusting that you will lead me safely through all suffering and carry me lovingly in your arms when I cannot stand on my own. Confident of all this, I will be at peace and I will put aside all useless thoughts, vain dreads, and anxious imaginations. Amen.

Today, fast from secular media and watch religious programming instead. We recommend watching our Mindful Meditations for Lent.

Your financial support helps keep the faithful connected with the Church and allows us to reach millions of souls who might not otherwise hear the Good News. This year, all donations made to CatholicTV during the Webathon Novena, March 8-16, will be tripled by generous benefactors! If you give $1, CatholicTV receives $3. And each day we will randomly select one donor to receive a rosary blessed by Bishop Reed and a book! If you're able to offer CatholicTV financial support in any amount, you can do so here:
