Reformer Saint | Peter Damian
CatholicTV Webathon Novena: Day 6
Thank you for dedicating nine days of your Lenten journey to the CatholicTV Webathon Novena. Today, Day 6 of the Novena, we ask Saint Peter Damian to pray for us.
Saint Peter Damian was a reforming Benedictine monk who devoted himself to prayer and sacrifice. He was known for his disciplined, no-nonsense character which caused many to call upon him to settle disputes among church and government officials. Peter urged clergy to turn from their sinful ways, and his example of piety and humility brought many into the religious life. Throughout his life he established five new monasteries. Peter Damian was a fervent and faithful servant who led others to serve Jesus. As our Church today looks for renewal and healing, we implore the intercession of St. Peter Damian to help us live lives of virtue and service to the Lord.
Grant, we pray, almighty God, that we may so follow the teaching and example of the Bishop Saint Peter Damian, that, putting nothing before Christ and always ardent in the service of your Church, we may be led to the joys of eternal light. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Today, fast from secular media and watch religious programming instead. We recommend watching and praying the Divine Office with Bishop Reed. Morning Prayer airs at 9am ET and Evening prayer at 9pm ET. Watch at CatholicTVLIVE.com.
Your financial support helps keep the faithful connected with the Church and allows us to reach millions of souls who might not otherwise hear the Good News. This year, all donations made to CatholicTV during the Webathon Novena, March 8-16, will be tripled by generous benefactors! If you give $1, CatholicTV receives $3. And each day we will randomly select one donor to receive a rosary blessed by Bishop Reed and a book! If you're able to offer CatholicTV financial support in any amount, you can do so here:
