Abortion is one of the most contentious issues in politics today. Opinions often (but not always) run along party lines, and groups outside of political parties have stated opinions on the issue. The Church, in defense of the dignity of human life, has long declared its stance firmly against abortion. On the opposing side, what is perceived as the feminist platform is in favor of legal abortion.
Consider your own calling, brothers. Not many of you were wise by human standards,
not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth.
Rather, God chose the foolish of the world to shame the wise, and God chose the
weak of the world to shame the strong,
and God chose the lowly and despised of the world, those who count for nothing, to
reduce to nothing those who are something,
so that no human being might boast before God.
As National Bible Week draws to a close, it is important for us to remember that, as Christians, we should always be seeking to encounter God through the Scriptures. As we proclaim and practice the Good News, it is essential to have a solid foundation of what God is telling us through His Word. Daily Scripture reading is a good habit to develop, whether it is the daily Mass readings or a randomly chosen Bible passage.
We ask you to bless and protect all those whose lives are at risk,
Especially the most vulnerable.

St Joseph is a very special, and often overlooked Saint. Adopted father of Jesus and husband to Mary, Joseph was the protector of the Holy Family. Joseph showed mercy to Mary when he didn't understand how she came to be with child. He ensured that Jesus had a safe place to be born, and that Mary and Jesus had a safe place to live their lives.
