WATERTOWN, MASS. (August 12, 2016) – This month, the CatholicTV Network’s original series Encounter features an interview with John Williams, a Boy Scout and parishioner of Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish in Dedham. Williams recently finished refurbishing a statue of the Virgin Mary that had been missing for decades.

After the statue of Mary was found at Assumption Parish, Williams got to work refurbishing it as his Eagle Scout project. He also tapped into his parish network to discover the statue’s origin. This connected him with Don O’Neil, also a parishioner at Assumption Parish. In the 1930s, O’Neil’s sister had been killed in an accident, and the O’Neil family donated the statue to the church in her memory. They had not seen the statue for years until Williams presented them with his project.

The interview with Williams will air as part of Encounter at 8:30pm ET on Monday, August 15, which marks the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Catholic Church. The program will be rebroadcast throughout the month on Mondays at 8:30pm, Tuesdays at 5:30pm, and Wednesdays at 6:30am (all times Eastern).
