The Presenter for this Session
Fr. Michael Seewald is a priest for the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stüttgart and a professor of theology at the University of Munich and the Ambrosianum in Tübingen.
Fr. Seewald studied philosophy, theology and political science in the universities at Frankfurt, Tübingen and Munich in Germany. At age 23, he earned his doctorate in sacred theology with several awards including the “Cardinal-Wetter-Prize 2011” for outstanding scholarship. His dissertation is a study of the Medieval scholar Abelard’s analysis of faith and reason; it was published in 2012. He has authored numerous articles and is about to conclude his second major book on the encounter of a secular anthropology with a traditional Christology developed during the European enlightenment.
Fr. Seewald has lectured over the past two years at St. John’s Seminary in Brighton. He has also given presentations at the Harvard Catholic Center and at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN.
